Wilhelm Levison (*
27 May 1876 inDüsseldorf ; †17 January 1947 inDurham ) was a German medievalist. He was well known as a contributor toMonumenta Germaniae Historica , especially for the vitae from theMerovingian era. He also editedWattenbach 's "Deutschlands Geschichtsquellen im Mittelalter". In 1935 he was forced to retire from his professorship atBonn University because of theNuremberg Laws . He flednazi Germany in the spring of 1939, toDurham University . In England he published "England and the Continent in the Eighth Century" (1946). He died during the preparation of "Aus Rheinischer und Fränkischer Frühzeit" (1948).External links
