ERealty

ERealty

eRealty is a generic term for real estate property websites including Virtual Office Website (VOW), Agent Websites, Internet Data Exchange (IDX) and real estate web portals.

Features

eRealty websites allow visitors to conduct searches of Multiple Listing Service properties, get details about a specific property and contact the providing real estate office or agent.

Some websites require visitors to register and get an account prior to sharing information about a property.

Regulation

The real estate company can display details about a property according to the rules set by the Multiple Listing Service organization. The MLS itself forms its policies around the recommendations of the National Association of Realtors.

The National Association of Realtors put forth the Internet Listing Display (ILD) which is a set of rules that regulate how homes and properties can be displayed on Web sites.

The ILD policy is a work in progress created as a result of investigation from the U.S. Department of Justice into anti-competitive practices by traditional real estate brokers.
