- Gary Winnick
Gary Winnick is an American businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder and chairman of Pacific Capital Group, a private equity firm. Winnick founded
Global Crossing Limited , a telecommunications company. He was chairman from the company's inception in 1997 until 2002. While he was chairman of Global Crossing the company engaged in accounting fraud which allowed Winnick to sell a large portion of his shares at advantageous prices to uninformed outsiders. The stock collapsed shortly thereafter and the company eventually went bankrupt. These questionable stock sales are the primary source of Winnick's personal wealth. Winnick also worked with convicted felon Michael Milken at investment bank Drexel Burnham Lambert.External links
