Haldun Taner (
March 16 ,1915 -May 7 ,1986 ) is a Turkishplaywright . He was born onMarch 16 ,1915 inIstanbul . He graduated from theGalatasaray High School in 1935 and went to Germany for higher education, where he studied between 1935-1938 in theHeidelberg University .Taner affected Turkish theater with the so called Haldun Taner Theater named after his school of cabarettheater style. In 1967, together with
Metin Akpınar ,Zeki Alasya , andAhmet Gülhan , he founded the"Devekuşu Kabere" ("OstrichCabaret Theater"). He educated and worked with many actors and directors. In addition, hehas a distinguished place in Turkish literature due to his essays, and newspaper articles. As one of the mostcelebrated Turkish theater artists, his life filled with writing ended on May 7 1986 in Istanbul.His stories have been translated into German, French, English, Russian, Greek, Slovanian, Swedish, and Hebrew.
