Ulster-Scots Heritage Council
The "Ulster-Scots Heritage Council" was established in 1995 as an umbrella organisation to represent the Ulster-Scots community. The "USHC" was the brainchild of Nelson McCausland who was its first Director until his election to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 2003, whereupon he was succeeded by William Humphrey, a Belfast City Council colleague within the Democratic Unionist Party.
Based in Belfast in April 2007 the Heritage Council moved from its premises in York St to its current premises in Franklin House. As well as being in the same building as The Ulster-Scots Agency, it shares office space with The Ulster-Society and The Ulster-Scots Language Society.
