John Hales (or John Halse) was a medieval Bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.

Briefly during the restoration of King Henry VI of England in 1470 he was named Keeper of the Privy Seal, but he lost the office on the restoration of King Edward IV of England in 1471.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 96]

He was nominated on 20 September 1459, and consecrated on 25 November 1459. He died on between 15 September and 30 September 1490.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 254]
