Its seat is the town of Rogoźno, which lies approximately convert|17|km|mi|0 north-east of Oborniki and convert|40|km|mi|0|abbr=on north of the regional capital Poznań.

The gmina covers an area of convert|217.95|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 17,322 (out of which the population of Rogoźno amounts to 10,905, and the population of the rural part of the gmina is 6,417).
