Héctor Vergara

Héctor Vergara (born 15 December, 1966) is a Canadian soccer referee. Although born in San Javier, Chile Vergera grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He attended John Taylor Collegiate. In the early 1990’s Vergara earned a Bachelor of Recreation Studies (Sports Administration) and a Bachelor of Arts in Advance Phychology from the University of Manitoba.

Vergera played soccer competitively for 10 years and recreationally for 30 years. He began working as a referee in 1983 and now has 24 years of experience as a referee. After refereeing 77 international Vergera stated his most memorable game was the 3rd Place Final 2002 FIFA World Cup between Korea and Japan.

Vergera is married and has 2 children.
