- Ecole Boulle
The Ecole Boulle is an advanced school of fine arts and crafts in
Paris ,France . It is specialised in arts applied to interior architecture and furnishing and is named after the cabinet-makerAndré-Charles Boulle . Since 1886 it has trained students in art, design and manufacturing techniques.The school has the legal status of a "lycée technique" as well as that of an advanced school of applied arts. Education is offered in two main strands:
"Artistic crafts" includes chair-making, marquetry, cabinet-making, tapestry, engraving, sculpture in wood, wood turning, bronze sculpture, and jewellery. This is the strand that the school is most famous for, and was highlighted in a documentary on the
France 2 television station in 2005."Applied arts" is the other strand and includes spatial design and interior architecture, product design, furniture design, visual expression and communication. These courses are offered in partnership with the Design department of the
École Normale Supérieure de Cachan . They include a broad education in information studies, art history, applied philosophy, semiotics etc.
