Kidangannoor

Kidangannor is an Indian village located in Kerala state. It is situated near Aranmula, where the snake boat race is held during Onam festival.

Situated in Pathanamthitta District, Kerala State, India.

Kidangannoor also is on the route to the Sabarimala temple, to which pilgrims flock once in a year for a view of the Ayyappa deity displayed in the temple there.

Kidangannor is the birthplace of eminent grammarian in Malayalam Rev. George Mathan who wrote Malayazhmayude Vyakaranam, the first book of Malayalam Grammar. Malayalam is the language of Kerala (a state of India) in which Kidangannoor is situated. Kidangannor is also the birthplace of writer and poet John P Matthew [http://www.johnwriter.com] [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_P_Matthew] , who is Rev. George Mathan’s great, great, great nephew.

Kidangannoor is basically an agrarian village, and agriculture forms the main occupation. However, many sons of the village are now in the Persian Gulf employed in technical, nursing and administrative jobs.

The population of Kidangannoor consists of Hindus and Christians
