Christian Army

An informal term to a large group of right wing evangelicals. The term is a loose description of many Christian associations, churches and organizations like the lobby group the Moral Majority. The group has traditionally supported the GOPFact|date=August 2007, however many leaders have stated they will support any party with their moral valuesFact|date=August 2007.

The groups this term describes has recently gained more and more political traction in Washington and has been criticized for it.Fact|date=August 2007

The 'Generals' of the Christian Army are considered the many televangelists and well-known Christian leaders such as Jerry Falwell. The soldiers are the millions of American fundamentalist Christians who share similar beliefs.

Criticisms

The Christian Right has come under repeated criticisms for constant lobbying in Washington D.C.Fact|date=August 2007 The groups have been criticised more as their political power has increased. Many critics claim they are imposing their agenda by trying to mix religion and politics. the most Radical of critics have claimed them to be almost fascists.Fact|date=August 2007 The critics attempt to justify their claims by stating that the Christian Right try to impose their agenda by changing laws even though a large part of the population does not support their ideas.Fact|date=August 2007

* Taking away a women's right to choose on abortion.
* Making gay marriage illegal, as well as blocking gay rights.
* Encouraging religion to be mixed with politics.
* Lobbying for religion to be taught in school
* Often teaching Creationism over Evolution.
* Opposing Birth Control.
* Attempting to ban pornography.
* Controlling certain mediums of media
