The Immigration Services Tribunal is a tribunal in the United Kingdom was created by section 87 of the Immigration And Asylum Act 1999 [ [http://www.opsi.gov.uk/ACTS/acts1999/ukpga_19990033_en_8#pt5-pb4-l1g87 Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, s. 87] ] and started operation on 30th October 2000.
Hearing before the Tribunal are of two kinds:
* appeals from decisions of the Immigration Services Commissioner
* disciplinary charges laid by the Immigration Services Commissioner under paragraph 9(1)(e) of Schedule 5 to the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
The procedure of the Tribunal is governed by the Immigration Services Tribunal Rules 2000 (SI 2000/2739). The rules were amended by the Immigration Services Tribunal (Amendment) Rules 2002 (SI 2002/1716), which came into force on 1st August 2002 and extended the right of representation under rule 21 to any hearing before the tribunal including preliminary hearings. There is also a brief practice note, issued by the president of the Tribunal on 30th August 2006.
