Ian Davidson (South African politician)

Ian Ormiston Davidson (born 1 January 1951) is a member of the South African Parliament from the Democratic Alliance.

Davidson joined the Progressive Party in 1969. He served as Johannesburg city councillor from 1982 to 1994. Davidson served in the Gauteng legislature from 1994 to 1999 and was first elected to parliament in 1999 [ [http://www.whoswhosa.co.za/Pages/profilefull.aspx?IndID=4048 Who's who SA] ] . As of May 2007 he serves as chief whip of the party in parliament [ [http://www.parliament.gov.za/live/content.php?Item_ID=184&MemberID=27 SA Parliament] ] , taking over from Douglas Gibson. He also serves on the portfolio committee on finance.
