Souleymane Beye

Souleymane Beye (born 1971) is a Senegalese official with the United Nations.

The first part of his career was with the World Food Programme, for which he worked in Guinea and the Sudan. During his work in the Sudan, and specifically in the Nuba mountains of Southern Sudan, he played an important role in improving the nutritional conditions of locals, amidst the devastation that followed from over 20 years of war. In 2005, he joined the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and became head of the OCHA office in Bangui, Central African Republic, until December 2006. During this assignment, he led relief efforts following the floods of 2005 [cite web|url=http://www.irinnews.org/report.aspx?reportid=56594|title=IRIN: Access to water for the flood-affected improves] , and played a major role in helping avert starvation for over 50,000 people in 2006.
