F911 Westdiep

F911 "Westdiep" is a Wielingen class frigate of the Belgian Naval Component, launched on December 8, 1975 at the Cockerill Yards in Hoboken, and christened by Princess Astrid of Belgium, on January 20, 1978. The patronage of the F911 Westdiep was accepted by the city of Sint-Niklaas. The F911 Westdiep was the second ship in the Wielingen class.

The F911 Westdiep is currently commanded by Frigate Captain Claude Renard.

On 5 October 2007 the Westdiep, last commissioned frigate of Belgian construction, was withdrawn from service with the Belgian Navy. She will probably be sold to Bulgaria, together with F910 Wielingen; the F912 Wandelaar has already been sold.
