Vakkom is a village in the Thiruvananthapuram district of Kerala, India. It is located 35 kilometers north of Thiruvananthapuram, the state capital. Vakkom panchayat is surrounded by back waters (Kayal). Neighbouring Panchayats are Angengo, Kadakkavoor, Vettoor, Cherunniyoor and Manampoor. The nearest towns, within 9 km are Varkala and Attingal.

The total area of Vakkom is 5.06 km2 and the total population, as per the census 2001, is 17640 with an effective literacy rate of 90.6%.
