Hong Kong Airlines Limited (Chinese: 香港航空公司) (formerly CR Airways Ltd) is a Hong Kong-based airline. It operates scheduled regional services from Hong Kong as well as business charter flights. History

The airline was established as CR Airways in 2001 and started operations on 5 July 2003. It was the first aircraft operator to receive its air operator's certificate since Hong Kong became a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China. Fact|date=June 2007

The airline changed its name to "Hong Kong Airlines Limited" (or Hong Kong Airlines) on 30 September 2006. It was previously owned by Robert Yip Kwong (51%) and Yu Ming Investments (4%). In September 2006, Mr Mung Kin Keung bought all 55% from Mr Robert Yip and Yu Ming and became the major shareholder in Hong Kong Airlines

Each of the Hong Kong Airlines' Boeing 737-800 aircraft feature 164 seats in a two-class cabin; 8 in Business Class and 156 in Economy Class. All aircraft are equipped with in-flight entertainment system with over 18 ceiling-mounted liquid crystal displays.

Aircraft orders

On December 20, 2005, the airline signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Boeing to acquire 30 Boeing 737-800 aircraft and 10 Boeing 787 aircraft to fly to major Chinese and Asian destinations and compete directly against Cathay Pacific and Dragonair. On June 21, 2007, the airline signed an MOU with Airbus to acquire 30 Airbus A320, 20 Airbus A330, and one Airbus Corporate Jet. The order has since been firmed up. It is unclear what will happen with the MOU with Boeing.
