- Frances Jocelyn, Viscountess Jocelyn
Frances Elizabeth Jocelyn, Viscountess Jocelyn, VA (1820–26 March 1880) was a British courtier and amateur photographer.
The former Lady Frances Elizabeth Cowper was the daughter of Peter Cowper, 5th Earl Cowper and his wife, Emily (later the wife of Henry Temple, 3rd Viscount Palmerston). In 1838, she was one of the trainbearers at the coronation of Queen Victoria and served as a bridesmaid at the wedding of the latter to Prince Albert in 1840.
On 9 April 1841, Lady Frances married the politician, Robert Jocelyn, Viscount Jocelyn, the eldest son of Robert Jocelyn, 3rd Earl of Roden. Now a courtesy viscountess, Lady Jocelyn was appointed a Lady of the Bedchamber to the Queen that year. Lord and Lady Jocelyn had four children:
*Alice Maria (1843-1867)
*Edith Elizabeth Henrietta (1845-1871), married Arthur Gore, Viscount Sudley (later Earl of Arran).
*Robert, later 4th Earl of Roden (1846-1880)
*Frederick Spencer Jocelyn (1852-1871)
Lady Jocelyn outlived both her husband and all of her children and died in her sixtieth year in 1880.
