Global Media Journal is a collection of peer-reviewed journals in the communication field. The American Edition of the journal was first published in fall of 2002. The journal Editions are independent journals with individual ISSNs, Editors and Editorial Boards. The Editions publish scholarly works in communication and media studies including assessing media structures and practices on an international global scale. The journal Editions can be accessed online at no charge for users.

The founder of the American Edition of the Global Media Journal and the driving force behind the creation of the other Editions is Yahya R. Kamalipour, Professor and Head of the Department of Communication and Creative Arts at Purdue University Calumet.

In 2006, Dr. Mashoed Bailie of Eastern Mediterranean University founded the Mediterranean Edition of the Global Media Journal and as of 2007, there are another 10 Editions with independent Editors, Editorial Boards and scholarly content.
