Van Wormer Library, part of the
University of Cincinnati campus, is aclassical architecture -style library building designed bySamuel Hannaford in 1899 and opened onMay 1 ,1901 . Funding was provided for byAsa Van Wormer with $50,000USD worth ofstreet railroad stock in memory of his late wife, who had diedOctober 4 ,1878 . In 2006, a $10.7 million dollarrenovation was done to the building, providing for a newdome and lighting. Before the renovation the dome provided fornatural light on the top floor only, but since the floors have been cut into it shines throughout the building.
