Ayinoor Vasu

Ayinoor Vasu (GROW Vasu) is a well known Human rights activist and most respected trade unionist in Kerala, India. He is also known as "GROW Vasu" as he was the leader of Gwalior Rayons Workers’ Organisation (GROW).

Mr. A. Vasu became a synonym of environmental friendliness. He is also well known for his bold actions to fight for justice for the suffering of Dalits, Tribals and victims of minority communities.

He began working in the "Commonwealth Trust Weaving Mill" in Kozhikode at the age of 16 in 1946. He has participated in many social and human rights activities and got arrested many times. [ About sufferings of Ayinoor Vasu [http://www.hrsolidarity.net/mainfile.php/2003vol13no03/2277/] .]

He had suffered a lot and sacrificed a lot for the Kerala society and for the trade union:

:"While a police officer was questioning me, another one gave me a blow on my neck from behind. I fell down on my face. On the floor, the police kicked and stomped on me on my back till I became unconscious. At dawn when I woke up, there was no police, and I found myself soaked in excretion and urine. After a while, a policeman came and saw me lying with my eyes open. They took me to the local police quarters and washed my clothes and me."
