The Shetland Times is a weekly newspaper publication in Shetland published every Friday, and a part of a long-running successful publishing concern based in
Lerwick , Shetland.The newspaper has a circulation of over 11,300. The Times, as it is commonly known, was established in
1872 and costs 70 pence. It was voted Newspaper of the Year by the Highlands and Islands Media Awards in2006 .As a publisher, The Shetland Times has a long and distinguished history, involving the production of key original work, as well as a healthy list of reprints.
From February 2006 until February 2008 the newspaper was edited by Jonathan Lee, formerly of the Aberdeen Evening Express.
