WGAI went through many "musical" format with Top 40 in the 1960s and early 70s, Adult Contemporary in the late 70s, Country in the mid-80s, and Adult Comtemporary again in the late 80s.
Joy Smith, daughter of famous DJ Bob "Wolfman Jack" Smith, was briefly an afternoon DJ at WGAI in 1989 as "Joy Jack".
WGAI would drop music altogether in the 1994 when it began it's current News/Talk/Sports format.
