Alice Fitzgerald

Alice Fitzgerald (née Morrissey), born 1949.

Born in Co. Tipperary of a family steeped in traditional Irish music, song and culture. She settled in Colligan Mountain near Dungarvan, County Waterford in 1968 and lives there still.

Despite all the external influences of the past century, there are still very strong traces of Sean Nós in our English language singing tradition: in this regard Alice Fitzgerald ranks with the best.

For many years she has been involved with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in Co. Waterford and she has been a pivotal performer and producer in countless shows and concerts. Alice has participated in numerous Comhaltas tours nationally and internationally as well as being a guest of many Singers Clubs. She had adjudicated at countless Fleadhanna and has imparted her craft to many young singers.

She has also received many accolades in Amateur Drama circles, and indeed for performance she is unspurpassed in giving a song. Her first CD "The Songs I Sing", a compilation of her most well loved songs has recently been released.
