Iobi

Iobi

iobi, pronounced eye-OH-bee), is a new way of providing telephone service over the Internet. So a registered customer could use a connected computer to dial a phone number and then speak to the person that owns the telephone at the other end.

As today, the clear definition of IOBI is given - this is just a term created by the technical geek. The most logic explanation is "InterOperable (Switch) Board Interface."

Like VOIP (voice over IP) or Internet Phone, iobi is a "network-based convergent solution that integrates communication services from landline and mobile phones to PCs, latops, and PDAs." Verizon is one of the ISPs to offer the integrated services under the term of iobi.
