James Bryant (photojournalist)

James "Jim" G. Bryant (born June 18, 1952 in Muscogee County, Georgia) is an American photojournalist.

Jim Bryant is a freelance photojournalist who has covered a wide variety of photo assignments ranging from local news and sports to international travel and war. He picked up his first camera at the age of 15 and has been taking pictures ever since. Bryant studied photojournalism at Syracuse University, graduating in 1978. He has given numerous seminars and classes on photojournalism himself throughout his career.

His photos have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Toronto Star, Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, Newsweek and many other newspapers and magazines.Bryant is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) and the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA).

In his career, spanning over three decades, Bryant's location assignments have taken him to more than 25 countries, some of which include Kenya, Vietnam, Japan, Palau, Thailand, and the Azores Islands.He resides in Port Orchard, Washington.

Awards

Bryant has won more than sixty state, regional and national awards for his work, including the Thomas Jefferson Award and an honor as Military Photographer of the Year.
