"Cardita brookesi" is a bivalve mollusc of the family Carditidae, endemic to the north east coast of the North Island of New Zealand including Great Barrier Island and the Mercury Islands, clustered under stones at low tide.

The shell is smaller than the similar species "Cardita aoteana" and is not winged posteriorly. The posterior radial ribs are densely scaly and linear spaced.

Coloration is uniformly light yellowish-brown, with a smooth interior.

Length is up to 14 mm, and thickness up to 10 mm.

The similar but much larger species, "Cardita aoteana", is found around the whole New Zealand coast.
