Reputation

Eastside is consistently ranked among the top 50 of America's public high schools by Newsweek magazine, and was ranked fourth in 2005. [ [http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7723397/site/newsweek/ Newsweek schools ranking] ]

There is a large disparity between the quality of education for the IB students and those in the major program. The many accolades Eastside receives are due to its IB program. It attracts some of the most academically gifted students in Alachua county county, including children of international professors at UF. It is currently facing funding problems due to severe budget cuts which has limited the resource usage for academics resulting in dissatisfaction amongst parents and teachers. Comparatively, in 2004 only 12 percent of black students read at grade level. [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0WMX/is_12_23/ai_n26947599]

In 2004, Eastside's Institute of Culinary Arts was ranked first in the state of Florida and second in the United States. [cite web |url=http://www.ehs.sbac.edu/default.html |title=Welcome to Eastside High School |publisher=Eastside High School |accessdate=2007-08-30]
