The plot revolves around an
anthropomorphic hen named Emily, whose boyfriend is just about to propose marriage to her when she gets infatuated with a passing rooster motorist, the radiocrooner Mr. Bingo (a caricature ofBing Crosby ). Bingo, while dating Emily in a nightclub, gets infatuated with a singing hen, and then, after Emily cries that Bingo no longer loves him, has a bouncer throw her out into the street to fend for herself selling violets. The jilted boyfriend eventually makes his way to the city, gives Bingo his just due in the middle of a broadcast, then finds Emily and forgives her and marries her and sires her brood."Let It Be Me" was one of two
Warner Bros. cartoons (along with "Bingo Crosbyana ") which Bing Crosby initiated lawsuits to suppress because they portrayed him in what Crosby considered a defamatory light.ources
