History

The station went on the air as KROI on 1979-11-01. On 1984-02-11, the station changed its call sign to KORY, on 1985-03-01 to KPLY, on 2001-03-05 to the current KBZZ. [ KPLY enjoyed great local regional success while hosted by sports announcer "Bob D." Robert Dirosario, and his sports sidekick Truckee Mike Leach. Frequent guest sports experts included John Pinto of the Silver Legacy, Paul Sonner of Bully's Sports Bars, sportsbook manager Eric Brownley of Club Cal Neva, sports handicapping expert Chris Andrews, now with Leroy's Sports Books, and horse racing coverage with "Pony" Bob Wilkie. The Bob D KPLY sports program offered extensive information on sports and sports wagering for the average fan. The Jim Rome show was a staple on KPLY, as was Sportsfan Radio Network.
