Klützer Winkel

The Klützer Winkel or Klützer Ort (in the vernacular also "Speckwinkel") is a part of the Nordwestmecklenburg district, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It consists of the western part of the circular area between the Hanseatic cities Luebeck (Priwall) and Wismar, Grevesmühlen to the north, which was located at the Baltic Sea, and Klütz in the center. The hilly landscape in the Klützer Winkel became coined-shaped during the last ice age. The highest terrain consists of beautiful mountains with 89 m mean sea level and Heideberg. The Klützer Winkel is considered a peninsula between Bay of Lübeck and Bay of Mecklenburg, and forms a line between the Dassower See and Wohlenberger Wiek with an area up to 10 km northward. The area is endowed with tourist attractions such as the Baltic Sea steep coast, the spa resort Boltenhagen, the pictorial town Klütz with their castle Schloss Bothmer and the railway museum as well as different other castles such as the picturesque little castle of Gross-Schwansee, currently a luxury hotel.
