2007 ICC World Twenty20 squads

This page lists the squads picked for the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. This is the first World Twenty20 tournament which had been organized by the ICC. The championship will ran from 11 September to 24 September 2007 in South Africa. 12 teams took part in the championship, and the teams were sorted by their groups in the preliminary group stage. The first-class team listed for each player is the domestic team he plays for in his home country and any English county he has played for in the 2007 season, which was running concurrently to the World Twenty20 tournament. The winner of the Final was Team India. Second place went to Pakistan.

Group A

Bangladesh

Group B

Australia

Australia's squad was announced on 20 July 2007. Kenya

Group D

India

India's squad was announced on 8 August 2007. [cite web | url=http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/twenty20wc/content/squad/305846.html | title=India Squad | publisher=Cricinfo | date=2007-08-08 | accessdate=2007-08-21] The squad opted for youth in the newest form of the game, with Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, who were at the time permanent fixtures in the ODI squad, opting to sit out of the tournament. This allowed the entry of Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma and Yusuf Pathan. India had at this point only played one Twenty20 with its internationl team.
