Koen de Kort ( born 8 september 1982 in Gouda in The Netherlands) is a Dutch professional cyclist. He grew up in Liempde in Noord Brabant. From 2002 to 2004, he was in the development team of the Rabobank cycling team. De Kort had a promising amateur career with wins in the Under 23 version of Paris-Roubaix. In 2005, he became professional with the ProTour team Liberty Serguros-Wurth of Manolo Saiz. That year he won a stage in the 2005 Tour de l'Avenir. [cite web|url=http://www.letour.fr/stf/avenir/2005/us/etape_04.html|title=De Kort triumphs|publisher=Le Tour.fr|accessdate=2007-08-17] In 2007 de Kort joined the Team Astana which as a result of teammate Alexandre Vinokourov failing a blood doping control after his win in the individual time trial of stage 13 in the 2007 Tour de France, the team withdrew itself from competition for the month of August. De Kort joined his teammates for a training camp in order to prepare for the 2007 Vuelta a España. When teammate Andrey Kashechkin also failed a blood doping control, the organisers of the Vuelta a España withdrew their invitation to the Astana cycling team and speaking to Dutch media, de Kort expressed his frustrations at not having the chance to compete after being in a similar situation in 2006 with the Liberty Serguros team.
