8 september 1982 inGouda inThe Netherlands ) is a Dutch professionalcyclist . He grew up in Liempde inNoord Brabant . From 2002 to 2004, he was in the development team of the Rabobank cycling team. De Kort had a promising amateur career with wins in the Under 23 version ofParis-Roubaix . In 2005, he became professional with the ProTour team Liberty Serguros-Wurth ofManolo Saiz . That year he won a stage in the 2005Tour de l'Avenir . De Kort joined his teammates for a training camp in order to prepare for the2007 Vuelta a España . When teammateAndrey Kashechkin also failed a blood doping control, the organisers of theVuelta a España withdrew their invitation to the Astana cycling team and speaking to Dutch media, de Kort expressed his frustrations at not having the chance to compete after being in a similar situation in 2006 with the Liberty Serguros team.
