Katharevousa : -ον), is a town and a municipality located in the southern part of the prefecture ofPhocis . It has a small harbor which connects with theCrisaean Gulf north of Galaxidi. It is located near GR-48/E65 which connectsAntirio with theRio-Antirio bridge and Itea along with GR-27, Amfissa and Livadeia. It is located about 10 km S of Itea and about 30 km S ofAmfissa , S of Lamia, about 25 km SW ofDelphi , WSW ofLivadeia and E ofNaupactus , the Rio-Antirio bridge and GR-5.Communities and subdivisions

Galaxidi has a school, a lyceum, a gymnasium, three churches, a post office, bank and squares ("
plateia "). Galaxidi has a small port used by small fishing boats and yachts nowadays. During the age of sail (up to late 19th century) had a big local merchant marine fleet. During that time much wealth was accumulated and can be seen by the size and style of local architecture. In the last decades tourism has been increasing. People mostly occupied in merchant marine, tourism and sea farming. Traditional style has been greatly maintained and is one of the reasons it remains popular with tourists. Municipality of Galaxidi also consists of nearby villages "Ayioi Pantes" ( _el. Αγιοι Παντες), "Penteoria" ( _el. Πεντεορια) and "Vounihora" ( _el. Βουνιχωρα). The view of Itea and the small peninsula as well as the western part of Parnassus can be seen. ThePeloponnese can rarely be seen in the south.The exiscente dates back to
1393 BC .Much of the land are bushy, grassy or rocky and are covered with mountains. There are not as many farms in the area but most of the groves are as far as 3 km within Galaxidi. Pine forests are situated in the southeast over a rocky shoreline.
