Composer's Voice Concert Series

The Composer's Voice Concert Series is a concert series in New York city performing contemporary chamber music. The series is produced by Vox Novus and was founded by the composer, Robert Voisey.[1] "[Vox Novus offers] the presentation of serious works by established and emerging composers. The Composer's Voice Concert series has been one of the companies vehicles for collaboration. One such collaboration was with the Birmingham Art Music Alliance (BAMA) in 2003.[3] The Composer's Voice Concert series is currently co-directed by Robert Voisey, Monica Harte and Christian McLeer in a collaboration with the Remarkable Theater Brigade and Jan Hus Presbyterian Church.[4][5]

History

  • Composer's Voice Concert Series was founded by Robert Voisey in 2001 and was the first concert series produced by Vox Novus.
  • On May 10th, 2001 the series held its first performance at Elebash Recital Hall, CUNY Graduate Center in New York City[6] Later that year the series had it first collaboration concert with La Scala De San Telmo in Buenos Aires, Argentina and at Advent Lutheran Church (New York City). [7]
  • In 2002, Vox Novus joined with the Living Music Foundation which became a collaborator and fiscal conduit for the Composer's Voice concert series.[8]
  • In 2003, The Composer's Voice concert series collaborated with the Birmingham Art Music Alliance to present a concert in both New York City and Birmingham, Alabama.[9][10]
  • For 2006 the series went on hiatus for a year.
  • In 2007, Robert Voisey met Monica Harte and Christian McLeer together they revived Composer's Voice Concert Series as co-directors in a joint production of the series with Vox Novus, Remarkable Theater Brigade, and Jan Hus Presbyterian Church.
  • Since July of 2007, the Composer's Voice concert series has had a monthly concert on the last Sunday of every month [11][12] at the Jan Hus Presbyterian Church an established New York City venue for music, theater and comedy.
  • In 2009, Douglas DaSilva[13][14] joined the series as Artistic Director[15][16]
  • In 2011 The Composer's Voice concert series started a new project of works called Fifteen Minutes of Fame [17]
