"The Orphans" is the fifth solo album by singer songwriter Kristeen Young.

The album represents a return to Young and drummer "baby" Jeff White's original stripped-down, guitarless sound, [http://www.tonyvisconti.com/news/march06.htm accessed 8/15/07] , as well as several of her common lyrical themes: mortality, individualism, generational succession ("Kill the Father") and middle America ("Under A Landlocked Moon").

The album was produced by Tony Visconti at James Iha's Stratosphere Sound Studios, with Mario McNulty engineering the basic live tracks and Rud Lee Cullers assisting. The CD was mixed by Visconti at Studio B, Looking Glass Studios. "Young and White wanted to sound powerful and raw, the way they sound live, for this one." - Visconti [http://www.tonyvisconti.com/news/march06.htm accessed 8/16/07]

"Kill The Father" and "London Cry" were released as singles in the UK by Sanctuary/Attack.
