Ryan McCord (born March 21, 1989) is a Scottish footballer who currently plays in midfield for Dundee United. Dundee-born McCord, who signed a professional contract with his hometown club in April 2006,cite news|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/d/dundee_utd/4919364.stm|title=Dundee United sign Ayr's Conway|date=2006-04-18|publisher=BBC Sport website] has previously been listed as a substitute for the first team but is yet to make a senior appearance. Despite this, McCord made his Scotland under-19 debut in October 2007, playing in a 1-0 defeat against Ukraine,cite web|url=http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/match_details.cfm?matchid=72211|publisher=Scottish FA|date=2007-10-31|title=Match Details: Azerbaijan v Scotland] appearing alongside United team mate Gordon Pope.

Career

McCord attended Menzieshill High in the city, and joined United as an Under 16 player, having played with David Goodwillie and Scott Mathieson in the Scottish Youth FA team when he was younger, and was part of the United Under-16 team that won the Aberdeen International Football Festival in 2005.

After starring in United's highly rated under-17 squad, McCord and nine other players were given professional contracts in April 2006, and he turned out regularly for United's Youth, under-19's and reserve teams over the 2 years.

He made his Scotland under-19 debut in October 2007, playing in a 2-0 defeat in Azerbaijan.

By the end of the 2007-08 season McCord had appeared in the first team squad as an unused substitute on 3 occasions, and in May he was given a one-year contract extension.

He got his first taste of first team action when he featured as a substitute in two pre-season friendlies, including the glamour match against FC Barcelona at Tannadice.
