Studiocat is a Toronto-based company that specializes in writing music for television and film. Their work has been heard on such shows as CSI, Opening Soon, Opening Soon: By Design, as well as in commercials for Miller Genuine Draft, Tim Hortons and numerous independent films.
Jamie Shields (musician) , from of the Toronto groupthe New Deal (band) and Adam White, the New Deal’s in-house engineer and programmer, have been producing original music under the moniker Studiocat since 2003.As keyboardist of the New Deal, Jamie has performed at thousands of concerts across the continent. tND toured as part of Moby’s Area:One festival and shared the stage with Herbie Hancock and the Roots. They showcased at Miami’s Winter Music Conference, New York’s CMJ, New Orleans Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, and the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. The New Deal's live and studio albums have been released worldwide.
Jamie was formerly the keyboardist for the Toronto fusion group, One Step Beyond.
Adam White, the other half of Studiocat, is a graduate of the University of Guelph and the Harris Institute for the Arts. After his studies, he found his way to Sound and Light Studios, where he was embraced by the New Deal, and became fast friends with Jamie. He was an integral part of the production team for the New Deal releases "Gone Gone Gone" and "Please Be Seated".
Jamie and Adam established Studiocat in 2003 and have been composing music and collecting gear ever since.
