Deacon in 1935 atLichfield Cathedral . He was formallyordained as anAnglican priest in 1936. Bristow served his firstcuracy atSt Mary and St Chad's Church which is located in Longton,Stoke-on-Trent . Father Bristow also served inLichfield , as well as the Diocese of Birmingham, theDiocese of Coventry , theDiocese of Rochester , theDiocese of Oxford and theDiocese of Sheffield during his 70 year career.Bristow officially retired in 1975. However, the
Bishop of Lichfield licensed Bristow with the permission toofficiate and lead the SundayMass after his retirement.Bristow celebrated the 70th anniversary of his
ordination as apriest in September 2006. He was quoted at the time as saying, "They tell me it's a bit of a do, but I don't know much about it." Bristow continued to actively assist with Anglican services at at St James' Church inNorton Canes ,Staffordshire until October 2006.Bristow died at Abbey Court Nursing Home in
Staffordshire onJuly 25 , 2007. He was 98 years old.References
