Izyumsky Trail or Izyumsky Warpath ( _ru. Изюмский шлях) is a historic route used by the
Crimean Tatars in the 16th and 17th centuries to penetrate intoSloboda Ukraine and then invadeMuscovite Russia . The route branched off theMuravsky Trail in the upper reaches of theOrash River and, after crossing theSeversky Donets at a convenient ford nearIzyum , continued north in the direction of theGreat Abatis Border . In the mid-17th century, the route fell into disuse owing to the establishment ofKharkov and otherCossack forts in the Sloboda Ukraine.References
