Florida Gators football team and was an All-SEC player at theUniversity of Florida . He earned his law degree from theUniversity of Florida College of Law .Kynes became Florida Attorney General in January 1964, succeeding
Richard Ervin , resigned as attorney general to accept an appointment to theFlorida Supreme Court . Florida governorFarris Bryant appointed Kynes to serve the the remainder of the term. Kynes accepted the offer after three weeks of consideration.After the end of his Florida Attorney General, Kynes became vice president of Jim Walter Corporation. He was executive vice president, secretary, and
general counsel of its successor companies Hillsborough Holding Corporation and Walter Industries, Inc. Kynes died at age 60 ofstomach cancer at his home in Tampa.References
