January 23 ,1945 inWolverhampton ,Staffordshire ) is a former English professional footballer who played as a full-back. He spent all his professional career in England with Birmingham City, where he became the club captain, and won the Player of the Year award two years running in 1969–70 and 1970–71. The club awarded him atestimonial match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1971. He later moved to theUnited States , initially playing for Portland Timbers andMinnesota Kicks in the NASL, and then coaching atOregon State University .Honours
