It is a part of 13th Army Corps. It is based in
Ternopil , western part of Ukraine. The Brigade was formed on August 18, 2004 on the base of 12th artillery regiment 1st tactical artillery group and command of the group.Colonel Sergiy Korniychuk became Brigade'sCommanding officer . 1st Cannon Artillery Brigade was created on August 18, 1943 in Stalingrad.First Brigade commander was Guards Colonel Volodymyr Kerp.
On March 1, 1943 Brigade was awarded Guards designation for successful actions near Stalingrad. At the end of March 1943 Brigade was relocated to Central Front near
Kursk . Between 5-12 July 1943 Brigade took part inBattle of Kursk . Brigade took part in Liberation ofOryol ,Hlukhiv ,Konotop and on September 29, 1943 was on of the first units to crossDnieper River . On November 6, 1943 Brigade was awardedhonorable name "Kyiv" for liberating city ofKyiv .From 14 March to 15 May 1944 the brigade took active part in liberation of
Ternopil . Later the Brigade moved toward Lviv and crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border. During battles for liberation of Poland, for crossingVistula River and battle nearSandomierz Brigade was awardedOrder of the Red Banner on February 19, 1945. Brigade provided artillery fire in liberation ofKielce ,Oder River andLusatian Neisse crossings, and attack onDresden .On May 10, 1945 Brigade being part of 5th Guards Army liberated
Prague . The Brigade was awarded Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky Second Class on June 4, 1945 for valour and heroism.Brigade has been stationed in the following cities:
