Guy Kingdon Natusch

Guy Kingdon Natusch is a noted New Zealand architect. He was born in 1921 and grew up in Hawke's Bay and practiced there until his retirement in 1997.

During World War II he served in the Navy from 1942 to 1945 on destroyers and motor torpedo boats, was awarded the D.S.C. and commanded his own boat during D-Day operations.

His grandfather, Charles Tilleard Natusch, arrived in New Zealand in 1882 and founded the architectural and quantity surveying firm, Natusch & Sons. Guy was active in the firm from 1946 to 1997, working on both commercial and residential projects. His style of architecture emphasizes the building's function over its appearance. He also developed a basic housing project called Solwood Houses.

In recent years he has been active in the Historic Places Trust, offering his expertise on the classification of historic buildings. In 2003 he was awarded the M.N.Z.M. for services to architecture.
