3M Performance 400 is the 23rd race in the 2007 NASCAR season and was scheduled to be held on Sunday,August 19 ,2007 at theMichigan International Speedway inBrooklyn, Michigan . However, a day-long rain postponed the race untilAugust 20 , but another rainstorm postponed that run until the following day.Pre Race News

Chevrolet cars bore a special paint scheme honoring the 50th anniversary of the 1957 Bel Air with replica tail fins on the side panels and old-fashioned round headlight and taillight decals. The drivers were Mark Martin,Martin Truex Jr. ,Ward Burton ,Dale Earnhardt Jr. ,Denny Hamlin ,Paul Menard ,J.J. Yeley ,Tony Stewart ,Jeff Gordon ,Casey Mears ,Jimmie Johnson ,Scott Wimmer , andTony Raines . Mears replaced the now-defunct Ginn Racing #14 which would have been driven bySterling Marlin .
*Kenny Wallace was released from the #78Furniture Row Racing Chevy team. Wimmer replaced him, but failed to qualify in a one-race deal.
* Due to a hand injury to his hand suffered in a fit of anger when he punched out a wall,Kyle Petty was replaced in the #45 asChad McCumbee for that race only.
*Ricky Rudd announced that he will formally retire after the 2007 season. Rudd has been driving the #88Robert Yates Racing Snickers Ford after taking the 2006 season off.Practice and Qualifying
