Eteri Andjaparidze

Eteri Andjaparidze is a Georgian pianist.

Andjaparidze was born into a musical family in Tbilisi, as the daughter of Zurab Andjaparidze, principal tenor with the Bolshoi Opera. She started studies at the Tbilisi Special Music School for Gifted Children at age 5 and gave her solo debut recital with the Georgian State Symphony Orchestra at the age of 9. In 1974, Andjaparidze entered the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, at the age of seventeen.

That same year, she won Fourth Prize at the Fifth Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow (jointly with Andras Schiff). In 1976, Andjaparidze became the first Soviet pianist to win Grand Prix at the Montreal International Piano Competition. She made her American debut in 1992.

She has recorded extensively, for the Naxos and Marco Polo labels and was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1999 in the category of "Best Classical Instrumental Soloist Performance w/o Orchestra”.
