- The Welcome Inn
The Welcome Inn has been a part of the history of
Mossbank , Shetland Islands for many years. Before becoming a public house, it was a wool factory and down the stairs was a little shop, which didn't sell much but met the needs of the locals, as the town in Shetland is situated 27 miles from Mossbank, and there was no bus service to get there. Now, it is a lovely pub owned by Irish owners, Mr. & Mrs. Allan & Ann McKimm, and a few of the Mossbank locals have a job there. It has a few previous owners, one being Mr. Harry Hay, who made the place a favourite among the locals.
As Mossbank is such a small village and does not have much entertainment wise, the pub is used to its full potential by the village locals and gets quite a good turn-out at the weekends, with a Bubblerock Disco being the main attraction. It also holds a special 'Monday Club' where the pensioners of the village go down to collect their pension in the afternoons and go for a relaxing pint or two on their way up the road.
