Its seat is the village of Kiszkowo, which lies approximately convert|25|km|mi|0 west of Gniezno and convert|32|km|mi|0|abbr=on north-east of the regional capital Poznań.

The gmina covers an area of convert|114.58|km2|sqmi|1, and as of 2006 its total population is 5,235. It includes the village of Dąbrówka Kościelna, whose church has for centuries been a destination for Roman Catholic pilgrims.
