W. H. Davies (preacher)

W. H. Davies (preacher)

William Henry Davies (1918-April 11, 2004) was a Welsh evangelical preacher, who was pastor for 44 years at Blackpool Tabernacle, a Baptist church in the English seaside town. [WH Davies - An Appreciation by Paul Helm, 2004]

WH Davies was well-known by the evangelical churches in North West of England for his extensive guest preaching, and also by the many holiday-time visitors to the Tabernacle church. Although widely read, and possessing an extensive personal library, he published only two papers during his career [John Howe as a Pastor of Souls by WH Davies, 1955] [Puritan Doctrine of Apostasy by WH Davies, 1960] , preferring to expound his ideas through the spoken word. The Tabernacle church maintains a back-catalogue of sermons preached since the 1970s.

He was originally pastor of Hope Baptist Church in Crosskeys from 1946 to 1954 [The Evangelical Magazine, May 2004] before moving to Blackpool.
