Sum Elai-Mang (
Hindko :هندکو) or Sum is a village/state inSirran Valley ,Mansehra District ,North-West Frontier Province ,Pakistan .It was ruled byHaroon Khan Badshah who was known as “Badshah Khan”. Sum is blessed with a lot of natural beauty which comprises green meadows, high mountains and roaring rivers. The land of Sum is very much fertile. The agricultural products include tomatoes, potatoes, rice, tea and different fruits. Many tourists visit Sum in summers. The rivers, greenery and a silent atmosphere are the main attractions for the tourists. TheSirran Valley is a big valley and is commonly known isPakhli .History
Sum valley as a whole was a river until
Haroon Khan Badshah with the help of his versatile powers turned the face of the Sirran River into two. This made it easier for the local people to settle down at the base of Sum village. Now there are two rivers passing by Sum. One passes from the front side of Sum which touches the road moving forward for Daddar village and the other one goes from the back side touching Elai-Mang. The ruling class here has always been Khan's known as "The Khan's of Sum".Political status
Political leaders from the Sum valley have been playing an important role in the politics of
Hazara Division . It just doesn’t starts with the birth ofPakistan . It goes back to theIndian National Congress andPML whereKhan Mohammad Abbas Khan served a lot for the Muslims of theSubcontinent . For the betterment of Muslims, he left the Congress and joined hands withMuhammad Ali Jinnah .Floods
A disaster took place in Sum during the floods of September 1992 and July 2001. The entire village was under flood and the schools and the houses of the local population floated away. Only the thing standing was the Sum Mansion of the Khans. This is because it was built while looking forward the village’s history. This Mansion has an underground base of eighteen feet depth and the thickness of the underground walls is ten feet. The main old bridge was destroyed in the first flood.
Shahzada Muhammad Gushtasip Khan made a new bridge for the village which was named after the late son ofHaroon Khan Badshah as “Shahzada Muhammad Azim Khan Pul”.Developments
Many developments have taken place in Sum. Electricity, bridges, water supplying system, roads and school for children are a few examples. Still it needs to improve more and wants an open eye from the ruling class for further developments to take place.

Haroon Khan Badshah had five sons, now they look after the state. Five of them come as his descendants.
